Septic Tank Cleaning & Pumping
-
While many components of modern systems should be maintained or checked annually, most households should have the septic tanks cleaned or “pumped” every 2-3 years, depending on usage and tank size. The details of each system determine what is necessary. We’ll be happy to assess your situation and give you the best recommendation.
-
We do more than pump—we assess the tank, baffles, clean effluent filters, check sludge levels, check pumps and floats for operations and try to identify any early warning signs of system issues. This is a value-added service we offer, not a full PSMA septic inspection with a written report.
-
Cleaning your septic tank on a regular schedule which is calculated based on the number of occupants of the house and tank size is generally the best and most cost-effective way to maintain your septic system. This regular periodic maintenance removes the solids and sludge from the tank and allows it to “start over” like when it was newly installed. By putting off the tank cleaning service you run the risk of solids that overflow from the tank to other downstream components causing damage that can lead to costly repairs. You should think of cleaning your septic tank with another other preventative maintenance item such as changing the oil in your car to protect your engine or changing the filter in your furnace!

Septic System Inspections
-
A PSMA-certified inspection is a comprehensive evaluation of the entire septic system. It is far more thorough than a basic dye test and is recommended for real estate transactions.
-
No. Dye tests can miss serious, underlying problems. We strongly recommend a PSMA inspection for accurate and reliable results.
-
Yes, we perform inspections in all seasons. Maintenance & Best Practices
-
Avoid flushing wipes, grease, medications, feminine hygiene products, or harsh chemicals. These can disrupt the system and lead to failures.
-
Most additives aren’t necessary, and the wrong ones can even harm your system. A properly functioning tank relies on natural bacterial processes. We do offer an additive that can help boost the natural bacteria in your septic tank which may be necessary in certain circumstances such as a member of the household being on strong medications or chemotherapy or the use of strong or harsh chemicals in the property which can wipe out the good bacteria in the tank. Another alternative is to simply pump the tank more frequently than your normal maintenance schedule.
-
Yes. We can put you on a regular maintenance schedule tailored specifically for the system you have.
