How often should my system be pumped?

The frequency of septic system pumping depends on the size of your tank, the number of people in your household, and your water usage habits. On average, most residential systems should be pumped every 2–3 years to prevent buildup of solids, maintain efficiency, and avoid costly repairs. Larger households or smaller tanks may require more frequent pumping — sometimes annually — while smaller households with larger tanks may be able to wait longer. Regular inspections and maintenance help determine the right schedule for your specific system and keep it running reliably for years to come.
